About Us

Our
Story
The Inclusive Kitchen is an initiative dedicated to teaching young adults with autism how to bake and cook, while fostering independence, creativity, and confidence.
This project is deeply personal to me. My cousin, who was diagnosed with autism as a baby, inspired me to explore how life skills like cooking can empower individuals with autism to become more independent. Over the years, I’ve also had the privilege of teaching art to people of determination (PODs), which has strengthened my passion for creating inclusive learning opportunities.
Through this project, I aim to raise awareness about the unique abilities of individuals with autism, highlight how cooking can foster growth and self-reliance, and provide resources for others looking to create similar opportunities.
The Inclusive Kitchen began as my Grade 10 MYP Personal Project but has grown into a labor of love, supported by the families, students, and professionals who have shared their time, insights, and encouragement.
Looking ahead, I aspire to expand The Inclusive Kitchen to include more participants, a wider variety of recipes, and to inspire others to create inclusive spaces within their own communities.
